APPOINTMENT BASED EMPLOYABILITY IAG ONE TO ONE SUPPORT

The foundation of CREST is to provide quality, culturally sensitive and informative advice and guidance to members, which is crucial in the mission of promoting racial equality. CREST provides ample opportunites for members to access intervention level advice and support with matters around job search, work readiness, benefits, housing etc. Staff will often sign post or guide members in accessing local or national agencies and will support them in advocating for their needs. Through our IAG appointements and support desk CREST supports several members in accessing much needed support, of which they would not be able to cope without.

ENGLISH LESSONS (FOR ARABIC SPEAKERS)

As CREST supports a large percentage of the Arabic speaking community in the local area, a class was arranged to enable these members to firstly learn English as well as thrive in an environment there are comfortable in. Although this is somewhat of a non-conventional way of learning English, from attendance rates and improvement in confidence and English speaking levels. It is apparent that the course has been a great success in providing these members with the foundation needed to learn English.

SEWING CLASS (FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES)

CREST offers a sewing class for all levels of practice. theses classes provide a safe space where women can express themselves through the products they create. These classes also help promote self-reliance and can be beneficial for mental health.

EVERYDAY ENGLISH - ENTRY 1

CREST along with the WEA offers an array of English classes for members of the community. These classes enable members to learn, improve and enhance their English conversational skills as well as listening and writing abilities.

MONDAY 9:30AM-11:30AM

LIFE IN THE UK CLASS

The life in the UK course is delivered at CREST in partnership with the WEA (Workers Educational Association). The course enables attendees to gain a better understanding of the education system, increase there awareness of British Values and improve their knowledge of services within the UK. Such as the police, NHS, ambulance and fire service. Within this course attendees will be given the opportunity to meet profeesionals from the services listed.

BOYS YOUTH CLUB

CREST provides an after school/holiday club for boys aged 5-16 years old, during the holidays parents can access with children aged 5-16 boy girls and boys without parental supervision and outside of term time for children aged 10-16 years without parental supervision. These clubs offer sports, dance, arts and crafts, awareness raising and social outings. The club also enables parents and boys to build trust with trained staff whom they can raise issues impacting them such as racism, bulling, poverty etc.

WOMEN'S WELLBEING (COFFEE MORNING)

CREST offers its members opportunities to socialise, build confidence and speak about issues important to them. By providing a relaxing, informal and safe environment. CREST is able to hear and note the issues that are impacting its members. Within the women's coffee morning which is in partnership with the customs house. Women have discussed topics around parenting, mental health, female health and general well being.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING CLASSES

CREST promotes health and well-being for women within BAME communities who often for cultural/religious commitments or confidence barriers do not always access mainstream sporting or fitness provision. The swimming classes enables women to get fit and improve their health.

BRUSH UP YOUR ENGLISH ENTRY LEVEL 3

CREST along with the WEA offers an array of English classes for members of the community. These classes enable members to learn, improve and enhance their English conversational skills as well as listening and writing abilities.

WEDNESDAY 10AM - 12PM

IT SKILLS FOR BEGINNERS

CREST is at the forefront of bridging gaps in equality; and as digital exclusion is an issue which is disadvantaging many communites especially low income, minority ethnic and elderly communites it is paramount that CREST offers opportunities for members to recieve the basic training needed to enable them to operate devices and in turn promote digital inclusion in the area.

CHAI AND CHAT GROUP (+50 YEARS OLD)

Following an audit of the impact of Covid 19, CREST identified that our beneficiaries who were over who were over 50+ were predominantly greater impacted during the period of Covid 19 restrictions and lockdown. This was due to being more susceptible to Covid 19, digital exclusion, isolation, being dependent on family and relatives, underlining health issues and increased loneliness. CREST offers members who are 50+ particularly from the Bangladeshi community to engage in group activities, social interaction, arts , crafts and gardening etc to promote their mental health and quality of life.

CREST is passionate about the development and progress of young black and minorized women and girls. CREST since its inception has continued to provide young women and girls opportnities, activies and mentorship that they would not have been able to access without professional friendship of CREST. CREST's network aspire group are led by women who were former users

FRIDAY 10AM - 12PM

MUMMY AND ME PLAYGROUP

CREST in partnership with the local children centre offers a group whereby mothers can engage with play activities that promotes the learning and development for children aged between 0-5 years old. As well as enhances mothers understanding of play based learning.

ADVOCACY TRAINING REGISTER INTEREST

CREST works with the regional refugee forum to deliver advocacy training for refugees. This training empowers, instils and increases the knowledge and awareness for refugees about matters relating to them. This in turn facilitates them to gain the understanding that will enable them to advocate for others.
